Red Velvet Pronuts

Dough, re, me... me, me, me! All for me! Red Velvet Protein Doughnuts, a.k.a. Pronuts, are really giving us all the greedy vibes. Thanks Shay (a.k.a. @shayemmasouthern) for this scrumptious recipe!


5 Tbsp applesauce
1/2 cup almond milk
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup + 2 tbsp oat flour
1/2 cup plant protein (or 1/2 cup extra flour)
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 tsp each baking powder & baking soda
1 Chocolate Coated Crunch Square (cut into 16ths)

2 tbsp vegan butter or coconut oil
1 tbsp peanut butter 
1 tbsp almond milk
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Beetroot powder, 100% beet juice, or 100% cranberry juice, for color
1 Chocolate Coated Crunch Square (cut into 8ths)


  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together donut ingredients.

  3. Evenly distribute batter into your lightly coconut-oil-greased donut pan. If you don't have a donut pan, roll up some foil & shape the donuts around them in a muffin tin.

  4. Bake for 15 minutes. 
  5. Meanwhile, make the icing. Melt vegan butter or coconut oil with peanut butter on stovetop over medium heat. Then add in almond milk, cocoa powder & sugar. To give it its red color add in a little beetroot powder, beet juice, or cranberry juice.
  6. Then frost your donuts and top them all off with Square chunks.
