Dough, re, me... me, me, me! All for me! Red Velvet Protein Doughnuts, a.k.a. Pronuts, are really giving us all the greedy vibes. Thanks Shay (a.k.a. @shayemmasouthern) for this scrumptious recipe!
Ingredients:
Donuts
5 Tbsp applesauce
1/2 cup almond milk
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup + 2 tbsp oat flour
1/2 cup plant protein (or 1/2 cup extra flour)
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 tsp each baking powder & baking soda
1 Chocolate Coated Crunch Square (cut into 16ths)
Icing
2 tbsp vegan butter or coconut oil
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp almond milk
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Beetroot powder, 100% beet juice, or 100% cranberry juice, for color
1 Chocolate Coated Crunch Square (cut into 8ths)
Recipe:
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together donut ingredients.
Evenly distribute batter into your lightly coconut-oil-greased donut pan. If you don't have a donut pan, roll up some foil & shape the donuts around them in a muffin tin.
